Chasing that 'Summer Glow' // Beauty

Hey you, remember me?

Wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t. I’ve been away long enough.

Between the stresses of being unwell, college deadlines and a new job I’ve been totally off the radar, but I’m back. Did you miss me?

Summer is fast approaching, and I couldn’t be more excited. Apart from the fact college will be over and done with forever, it means I have an excuse to rock an extreme tan. What more could I ask for?

The past few weeks I picked up a couple of products, which have totally got me in the summer bronze mood.  So I thought I’d give you a quick update on what I’ve purchased.

The first thing  I’ve loved is a total hype, which I’ve joined. It’s theBalm’s ‘Mary Lou Manizer’ highlighter  I’m not a massive fan of the packaging, which everyone seems to love, it’s just too childish and busy for me. But the product it’s self is wonderful. It has an almost buttery powder consistency, which glides on the skin, and the powder itself is super pigmented (which I love because I like to be as shiny as possible haha). It seems to last all day, without fading or splitting although I’m not sure if this is down to the product itself or my base.
I love pairing this highlighter with my next product for a glowing bronzed look!

1. The Balm - Mary Lou-Manizer 2. MAC Global Glow

The second product I've been swooning for is MAC MSF in ‘Global Glow’ , after running out of my go-to highlighter last month (lightscapade by MAC if anyone is wondering.) I decided I needed to branch out and try another colour. Now, this was no problem for me, as it’s no secret that highlighter is my favourite beauty item, so the idea actually excited me. I went into the MAC store and as both lightscapade and soft and gentle were out of stock I tried on Global glow, which I loved.

Sadly, when I got home and tried it, It’s a little too dark for daily wear, although is great what I’ve got fake tan on. So I’ve been using it as a light bronzer/blush for the past few weeks, and now as a highlighter as I’m back on the fake tan hype.

My final 'Summer Glow' product is Garnier ‘Summer Body’(£3.89 for 400ml). After battling for months with the dreaded ‘I-hate-wearing-fake-tan because-it-leaves-my-skin-a-patchy-riot’ problem, I decided to look into other, more consistent ways of keeping a tan, without ruining my skin. The general consensus online was that gradual tanners were the way to go, so I ended up grabbing ‘Summer Body’ in Superdrug. I’ve been loving using it, there’s no guide colour, so that means no payoff on your sheets,  the apricot sent is fabulous and I love the gorgeous bronzed shade it turns my skin – the only slight concern I have is that it is not very gradual. At all.

You can see the colour of my skin after one application here at the right hand side. Such a deep, golden tan,
I slapped one layer on, went to bed and woke up from a week in Spain the next morning – or so it appeared. It’s not a problem though as the shade is gorgeous and it isn’t wearing off in a patchy way at all (after four weeks of using it) so I’d definitely recommend it. Although, everyone might not get the same results.

What beauty products are climbing out of your cupboards now summer is approaching?
Do you have any recommendations to help me get that glow?

  1. I would love to try out that highlighter from Balm, it looks like it has perfect amount of shimmer

  2. It's the best I've tried. So buttery!
