The final inconsequential summer.

I find summer hard. Here’s why.
Every summer since I’ve been old enough to care, summer has marked the end of something, and subsequently the beginning of something new.

In 2002, summer pronounced a firm end to the life I had lead in Bath with both of my parents, and the beginning of my life in Glasgow. Summer 2012, marked the end of my time at high school and the start of my college studies. 2015, the start of my university career and 2016?

That’s what’s troubling me.

Being a direct entry student Q&A

Wednesday, 13 July 2016 3 comments

I thought as UCAS time came around again it was only fitting to publish a university related post, specifically on my experiences as a third-year direct entry student. I could have written ‘till the cows came home about the things I’ve learned this year but instead, I drafted in the help of a future direct entry student Jamie to ask me all the important questions. Note: This is a long (slightly rambly) one - grab a cuppa!

Chilled Sunday's at the Trading House

Sundays are bloody fantastic. A day dedicated to relaxation and food? What more could a girl ask for? But Sundays at The Trading House are better. Fact. The other Sunday, I rolled out of bed and skipped to the trading house to meet with some of Glasgow's loveliest blogging gals for an afternoon promised full of roasts and bloody mary's, It was exactly as good as it sounds.

My Super Lunch at Jamie's

Jamie's Italian A girl called Glasgow Bruschetta

I think I was the last person I know to try Jamie's. I'm a huge fan of Jamie Oliver, but I was skeptical to try his chain in fear of disappointment. But recently, after hearing glowing reviews from everyone I'd spoke to, I decided it was time to go. I even drafted in an accomplice.

A beauty love affair

Lots of Makeup, Haul Nyx boots and High end makeup

It's been a long time since the last beauty post here on A Girl called Glasgow. I'm unsure why, but for so long it's been something I've just lost enthusiasm in writing about, although I'm interested in it more than ever. I guess in some respects, I felt like there was nothing left for me to say on the subject that hadn't been done better by someone else previously.

But, then I realised, nobody else has my preferences. I work long shifts in front of a boiling hot, somewhat moist coffee machine these days. Therefore my makeup doesn't just have to be aesthetically pleasing like I sought in the past, but it also has to be long wearing and practical. Therefore, my picks have changed, and I've found myself falling out of love with some products that I truly believed would be my forever holy grails. It was like a  breakup, it was hard and it took time to heal. But I've moved on, and it's time for you to meet my new loves.

Byron: A new contender in Glasgow's Burger Ranks

Friday, 25 March 2016 6 comments

I. Love. Burgers. There's no if’s and buts about it. They’re my go-to dish, and there’s nothing quite like them.  Which is great, considering Glasgow is the best for burgers. C’mon we even have our own Burger Boulevard! (That's St. Vincent Street if you're wondering.)

I can do a front flip!

My weekends rarely consists of anything other than seeing friends, eating and going out - whether that’s to clubs or gigs. This is something I know isn't just exclusive to me - it's something that kind of just comes with the age bracket I'm currently in. So when I heard about airspace, I felt it was time to spice up my weekends! (or at least attempt to, I hadn't been on a trampoline in years!)

I got drunk in a museum: Riverside Festival

Thursday, 10 March 2016 3 comments

It's not every day you get to say you got drunk in a museum. Actually, even saying it out loud sounds a little wrong - like bending book corners. But I did it, and I wasn't up to trouble, it was for this year's Electric Frog Riverside festival.

Last minute Valentine's Gifts That He will Love

Valentines is a toughie. Personally, I'm not one for buying super-cutesy teddy bears and all sorts for my love. Although they're cute, I find them impersonal and somewhat useless (sorry!) after valentines day is gone! This year I had the struggle of trying to buy for my boyfriend and it stressed me out beyond belief, I'm not going to lie. So I thought I'd show you my two top picks for the man who has everything, but isn't into cheese

Tuesday Night Tapas at La Tasca // Food and Lifestyle

Wednesday, 3 February 2016 No comments
All I seem to do recently is post about food – Sorry about that! But I just think winter months are for trying new places – since there’s not millions else to do when you live somewhere as chilly baltic as Glasgow. Last Tuesday, Andrew and I decided to try somewhere we’ve been meaning to for a while, the ever so talked about La Tasca.
